#1 Thing To Do To Be Happy

The #1 thing to do to be happy is to be present.

Being present is the number one thing that we can do to be happy. Often we pull sadness or anxiety into this current moment we are experiencing through our mental associations. The present is full of light and beauty and joy. There is good in the present. But we rob ourselves of this joy when we get disconnected from the present.

So it is our number one way to happiness - to be present. We will feel better the more we are present. We will not feel as good when we dwell or go back to the past nor will we feel as good when we get caught up in the future. The present is where it is at. The present is where happiness is at.

One way to be more present is to meditate in the present. To focus ourselves into our experience by noticing colors and sounds and smells.

Be careful to bring yourself back from future thinking. Future thinking is full of concern, expectations creation, anxiety, and fear. Departing from the present for the future is often a departure of the happiness available to you in the present.

Another way to miss out on the happiness available to you in the present is to get caught up in the past. Focusing on the past instead of the present is often a net negative outcome. We often end up writing ourselves into a negative or sad story. We think we miss out on a hypthetical life that may or may not have even turned out well. We get into regrets and what we could have done differently. It is not a good use of our time or our focus.

Our opportunity to live our best life is right now in the present. So when we anchor ourselves in the present and embrace and enjoy the present we are so much happier. Happiness is fuller, richer, deeper and more abundant in the present than anywhere else. I hope you enjojy being in the present and all the happiness that comes with it.
